My name is Laura Guarch, a singer and performance maker from Barcelona. I have toured my a cappella live-ˇlooping singing project 'Street Vocals' around main European cities’ public spaces since 2014. The project has been featured in major festivals in Germany (2017), Switzerland (2016) and Liechtenstein (2017). I am also leader and songwriter of my popjazz band ‘Laura Guarch New Ensemble’.
Besides working as a composer for performance, music teacher and choir leader, I am also the director and facilitator of ImproPlay, a platform for cross-ˇart improvisation and mindfulness workshops.
I am currently studying the MA Performance Making at Goldsmiths College –University of London, from which I expect to graduate this year. My research and practise as a performance maker focuses on the integration of sound, movement and visual arts;; audience participation, and site-ˇspecific performance. My work touches on themes of migration, femalehood, democracy, space, cities and water.
What I love about working in Singology is everyone in the choir feeling energised and happy after a session on a Monday evening, having had fun times through singing together and learning more about voice and music.
